What to do when you visit Prudentialife

The releasing of checks for Prudentialife planholders has 2 major steps:

1.  Validation - This is where Prudentialife will confirm if you are indeed a member of a particular batch of planholders that are scheduled to receive their checks on that particular day.

Be sure to arrive at the Prudentialife Makati Office before 6:00 AM.  BTW, releasing of checks is done between Monday to Saturday.

If you arrive early, you will be asked to fall in line inside the basement garage of the building.  In our case, we arrived at 6:00 AM last Saturday and we were among the group that were allowed to immediately go inside the basement garage.  We then had to wait until 7:00 AM for the validation procedure to start.

The validation procedure has two separate lines and a guard will be there to guide you.  There are 3 computers setup for this step.  You will need to present the photocopy of your policy and other related documents.  The designated staff will then inform you and write down on the photocopied document the amount that you will receive.

A separate "Senior Citizen's" line was also setup shown above on the right.

Shown above are the procedures that you need to follow.  Step 2 listed here was no longer required last August 31 (this may change depending on the volume of planholders visiting the office on a particular day).  The schedule of the different batches is also shown on the left.

After your policy is validated, you need to fall in line again.  Depending on the type of your policy, you will be instructed to go to a designated floor to get your check:  5/F for Education Plans, 3/F for Pension Plans and 2/F for Life Plans.

My wife and I needed to wait for about an hour before we can proceed to the 3/F so she can get her pension plan check.

2.  Check Releasing - As instructed by Prudentialife, all planholders will need to present 2 government-issued IDs.

After another hour of falling in line, my wife finally got her check.  Total time we spent at the Prudentialife office was 3 1/2 hours.

Check if you are on the LIST

Immediately after the Philippine Insurance Commission ordered the liquidation of the trust fund of Prudentialife Plans last July 11, 2013, there have been numerous inquiries as to how the planholders will be able to get their checks.

If you are an existing planholder of Prudentialife (Education, Life or Pension plans), you first need to check if your name and policy contract number are included on the list of those who will be issued checks.

For everyone's reference, you may download the file by clicking this link.

Additional notes:

1.  The file is compressed so you can save time in downloading it (the original uncompressed file is more than 30 MB big and some of you may have problems downloading it.

2.  After you download the file, you need to have an application to uncompress it (such as Winzip, 7-Zip or Winrar).    Click this link if you don't have the application yet:  7-Zip Download Page

3.  After uncompressing the file, you will also need to have Adobe Acrobat Reader to open the file.  If you don't have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer, click this link:  Adobe Acrobat Reader Download Page

4.  The file by the way separates the planholders into 4 batches and each of these batches have specific periods when their checks are to be released.  You will not be allowed to get your check if your batch's checks ARE NOT YET SCHEDULED FOR RELEASE.

Hello World!

Hi Everyone,  this is Eric.

I accompanied my wife Angel earlier today at the Prudentialife Main Office.  She's one of the planholders included on the second batch that will get their checks.

We actually first tried to get Angel's check last Tuesday (August 27).  There was no clear system back then.  We arrived in Prudentialife's Makati office by 7:00 AM and we were immediately instructed to proceed to the back of the building where we found a line of people literally snaking around for about half a kilometer.  By 11:30 AM, we were still about 100 meters away from the main gate of the building and we were hearing angry shouts from some people.  After confirming that the releasing of checks is done even on Saturdays, we decided to try our luck again on August 31 and we planned to go earlier.

Notes for first-time visitors to Prudentialife Makati Office:

1.  If you can, go to Prudentialife's office early - arriving on or before 6:00 AM will be your best bet to finish everything within the morning.  They only release the checks here.

2.  Be sure to bring photocopies of your Policy/Plan contract or any related documents including copies of at least 2 government issued IDs.  If you will ask someone else to get the check for you, that person needs to have a "special power of attorney" document.

3.  Bring food and water with you especially if you arrive after 7:00 AM.  The place is within Legaspi Village and the nearest food place is located either in Makati Cinema Square or Greenbelt 1 (about 10 to 15 minutes walk).

4.  Each batch has a designated shedule where they can get the checks so you need to verify the schedule first - you will not be allowed to get your check if your batch's checks ARE NOT YET SCHEDULED FOR RELEASE.

Stay tuned for my subsequent posts over the weekend as I will share with you the "3 steps" that you need to follow to get your checks.

I do hope that my subsequent posts will guide those who have yet to receive their checks so they can properly prepare.
